Itemiser® 3E

The Itemiser 3E is no longer in production, but NETCo still has parts and skilled technicians to troubleshoot and repair your Itemiser 3E.

Itemiser desktop contraband detection and identification system

The Itemiser is the first trace detector in the world to simultaneously detect positive and negative ions, enabling the detection of a broad range of explosives and narcotics. Detection of both positive and negative ions allows for effective identification from a single sample. It delivers fast, simultaneous explosives and narcotics detection in a package that is ergonomic and portable.

SAFRAN / Morpho Detection’s patented Ion Trap Mobility Spectrometer (ITMS®) technology can detect a wide range of explosive substances with accuracy and speed. ITMS detectors increase ionization efficiency, the main factor for determining detection sensitivity. Unlike SAFRAN / Morpho Detection’s patented ITMS, traditional IMS instruments operate in either positive or negative mode, but not both modes simultaneously. While negative mode operation detects the majority of explosives, certain explosives are detected in positive mode. Therefore to rule out the presence of all explosives, conventional IMS detectors require operators to sample and test in one mode, then switch modes and test again – making screening a time-consuming process.

Extensive use of the latest computer technology and SAFRAN / Morpho Detection proprietary software in the design of Itemiser® 3E has produced an instrument that requires no user intervention or interpretation. Consequently, operators can concentrate on obtaining good trace samples of explosives or narcotics. An operator need only sample the surface of an item that is suspected of being contaminated with traces of explosives or narcotics and insert the “sample trap” in the slot located in the front of the instrument to trigger analysis.
